El software libre y de código abierto (también conocido como FOSS o FLOSS, por free/libre and open source software, en inglés) es el software que está licenciado de tal manera que los usuarios pueden estudiar, modificar y mejorar su diseño mediante la disponibilidad de su código fuente. No hay que confundir con el software gratuito, el cual no necesariamente tiene que ser software libre, y rara vez es de código abierto.
